President's Message

Saturday, March 04, 2006

Lately I have developed a habit of talking back to the television every morning. I've never done this before. On the other hand, I don't ever remember being as frustrated with our political situation as I am now. It just seems to me that with each day, something new comes onboard to upset me more than the day before.

I could list all the missteps of this Administration, but I am afraid that I would run out of room. Besides, I am preaching to the choir. You all know what they are.

I wonder sometimes if I am overreacting. Do other people feel as deeply as I do? Why aren't they shouting from the rooftops?

I think that what I understand least is the apparent apathy of the general public. I remember a veteran that I knew very well complaining about the cuts to Veteran's Administration benefits. After one of those complaining sessions, I remember turning around and yelling at him to stop complaining and put his energy where his mouth was. He did and became a rabid worker for the party till his passing.

I think we all need to do that every time we hear someone complaining. On all levels we are dominated by Republicans and their attitudes. That's what got us into the mess we are in. We need to become avid proselytizers for our Democratic cause and values. We need to get rid of the Republican rulers. We need to convert everyone we know. That is the only way we can bring the country back.

See you all at our March Installation Party.
