I AM SO PROUD OF THE WESTON DEMOCRATIC CLUB
Our commitment to the community came through loud and clear at our last meeting when we met members of the Latin community, heard their stories and learned how they are impacting our political lives. Our next event is part two of our outreach to the Hispanic community.
We are furthering that commitment with our Forum Latina on June 4th. There are no better honorees for this occasion than our Latin Ladies who were elected to office. County Commissioner Diana Wasserman Rubin, Weston Commissioner Sharon Cheren and Weston Commissioner Mercedes Henriksson are the embodiment of the successful Latin women. They are wonderful examples for our newly arrived Latin population to emulate. We are very proud of them and thrilled to honor them.
To continue our commitment, the net profits of this afternoon's event will be donated to the Broward County Democratic Executive Committee and earmarked for outreach into the Hispanic community in Broward County. We hope more of our Democratic clubs will follow our example.
Our Teens committed themselves to Embroinic Stem Cell Research with an event held last Tuesday at The Roasted Bean. They showed up in force and had petitions signed by all who attended. It was wonderful to see all of the committed young people who are willing to get out there and help make a change.
Once again, I am so proud to be a Weston Democrat. I hope that you all are as well.
