Last night, I was privileged to hear the Governor of Montana, Brian Schweitzer address Broward Democrats at our annual Jefferson Jackson Dinner. Just as in convention, Governor Schweitzer energized us all with his message and his delivery.
The Governor emphasized the importance of understanding the diversity in the Democratic Party, using his state as his example. Here in Weston, and in Broward County this is our way of life. Our expanding Latin population has energized us all and is making a difference in how things progress for us politically, both locally and nationally.
We are addressing that issue at our next meeting. Hispanic legislators from the City of Weston, Angel Gomez and Mercedes Henriksson, and from Broward County, Diana Wasserman Rubin, will be examining this issue in detail.
